Answering the Call for a Fallen Brother: Support Lt. Billy VanPeursem's Family

On April 23rd, Lieutenant William "Billy" VanPeursem, a member of the Bangor Fire Department and IAFF Local 772 brotherhood, passed away, devastating the Bangor Fire Department and IAFF Local 772 brotherhood.

For 35 years, Billy served the Bangor community with unwavering commitment as a member of Engine 5. He was a firefighter's firefighter – known for being "rough around the edges" but even more so for his deep love of the job and his dedication to the fire service.

Billy was more than just a lieutenant; he was a brother. His laugh and his penchant for shenanigans were fixtures in the firehouse, always ready to lift spirits. As he prepared for a well-deserved retirement, his unexpected loss has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow firefighters.

Chief Geoffrey Low remembered him fondly, saying, "What Billy lacked in finesse, he more than made up for in his commitment to the fire service and his love of the job."

Now, it's our turn to show our commitment to Billy and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

We are raising funds to support the VanPeursem family as they navigate this tragedy.
