Laramie's Hero: Help Dylan Schilt Overcome His Injuries
On February 28, Laramie Fire Department (LFD) Engine 3 responded to a dangerous structure fire north of Laramie. During the intense operation, our brave firefighter, Dylan Schilt, was critically injured in a structural collapse. He suffered severe injuries, including a fractured vertebrae in his thoracic spine, resulting in paralysis from the mid-back down, a collapsed lung, and a broken ankle.
Dylan was immediately transported to Ivinson Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Medical Center of the Rockies for specialized care. He underwent emergency surgery to stabilize his spine, remove a blood clot, and address bone fragments. He is currently in the ICU, facing a long and challenging recovery.
Dylan is a dedicated member of the Laramie firefighting community, a true hero who has always put the safety of others first.
Now, he needs our support.
The road to recovery will be long and costly, with medical expenses, rehabilitation, and necessary adjustments to his life.
