Livonia's Hero Needs Our Help: Support Captain Matt Bernelis's Recovery
Captain Matt Bernelis of Livonia Fire and Rescue has dedicated his life to serving his community. Now, he needs our help. Recently, Matt received a diagnosis of colorectal cancer, adding to his previous battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer in 2019. After immediate surgery, he's on the path to recovery, but it will be months before he can return to even light duty.
As a dedicated firefighter and father of triplets, Matt has always put others first. Unfortunately, he has exhausted his PTO, and with a long recovery ahead, the financial burden is significant. The Livonia Firefighters Union and other generous organizations stepped up to provide support, and his fellow firefighters are working extra shifts to help. We are reaching out to our community to help alleviate the financial stress so Matt can focus on his recovery.
Matt's strength and resilience are an inspiration to us all. He faced a year-long battle with Neuroendocrine Cancer and returned to full duty, demonstrating his unwavering commitment. Now, he faces another challenge, and we need to stand by him.
Your generous donation will directly support Matt, his wife, and his triplets during this difficult time, ensuring they can cover essential expenses while he focuses on healing. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Let's show Captain Matt Bernelis that he's not alone in this fight.
