Firefighters Helping Firefighters: Supporting the Witt Family
Coming together to lift up the Witt family.
For Andrew Witt, giving back is second nature. You know the type – the guy who'd literally give you the shirt off his back. He and his family poured their hearts into building a local nursery, a dream he shares with his wife. Like many seasonal businesses, winter brings its challenges, and they rely on hard-earned savings to bridge the gap.
The past few months have brought an unimaginable series of hardships for Andrew and his family.
The loss of a fellow firefighter in November shook our entire department. Then, the joy of welcoming their fourth child on February 1st was quickly followed by a devastating call on February 6th. Andrew was first on the scene of a tragic accident, only to discover he was trying to save one of his closest friends. Despite their best efforts, his friend was lost. This profound loss has deeply impacted Andrew.
Adding to this burden, a severe storm on March 15th ripped through their property, causing significant damage to their greenhouses, home, and livelihood. The weight of these events has understandably taken a toll on Andrew's mental health, leading to a recent decision to seek professional help at a treatment facility.
While Andrew focuses on his well-being, his wife is home caring for their four young children. Their financial reserves, carefully saved for the nursery's off-season, have been depleted.
As his firefighting family, we're stepping up to offer support – providing groceries, offering helping hands, and contributing where we can.
We know Andrew is a proud man, the kind who wouldn't readily ask for help. That's why we're reaching out on his behalf.
Let's show Andrew and his family the strength of our brotherhood and sisterhood.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will directly help them navigate this challenging time and ensure they can focus on healing and rebuilding.
Just as Andrew has always answered the call for our community, let's answer the call for him.
