Standing with the Porter Family: Supporting a Fallen Hero

The entire community is feeling the loss of Mark Porter, a man who embodied service and dedication as a Fire Commissioner and EMS Captain for the Murray Joint Fire District. Mark's years of commitment also included serving as Past Chief of the Holley Fire Department and a retired Captain of Monroe Ambulance – a testament to his deep-seated desire to help others.

Mark's resilience inspired us all when he overcame a lengthy battle with COVID-19, returning home after 112 days on a ventilator. Despite facing ongoing health issues, Mark remained dedicated to his responsibilities and community. His sudden passing from cardiac arrest at the firehouse has left a void that will be deeply felt.

Beyond his vital role in emergency services, Mark was a cornerstone of our community. He was a loving husband to Rose, a father, and a grandfather. He also dedicated his time to coaching young athletes in wrestling and baseball and serving on the school board, shaping the lives of many.

The Porter family has quietly borne the weight of significant medical bills stemming from Mark's illness. Now is our chance to rally around them and provide the support they selflessly give others.

Making a donation will help the Porter family during this time of profound grief and financial strain. Let's show them the same unwavering support that Mark showed our community.
